Male Of Squirrel. It is uncommon for some female tree squirrels, such as fox squirrels, to nest together. Although usually frightened of people, a mother squirrel can be quite aggressive if she perceives danger or is separated from her babies.
One is usually male and the other female, but both chase after each other, so identifying the male and female this way is impossible.
These squirrels can live to be 20 years old in captivity, but in the wild live much shorter lives due to predation and the challenges of their habitat. Interestingly, males have very slightly longer lifespans than females — a trend that's usually reversed in most animals, let alone squirrels. Male squirrels actively signal to the female that they are interested in copulating and that they do not present a threat. The red squirrel is slightly smaller than the eastern grey squirrel which has a head to body length of 25 to 30 centimetres and weighs between 400 and 800 grams.
